Summer Calendar

  1. This week during my trips to the garden, I discovered that the elephant garlic was ready to harvest; the flowers on the top of the plants had bloomed, and the leaves were browning and wilting. There were also a lot of snap peas ready to be harvested, as well as more still growing. The garden was covered in weeds, mostly in the beds where the celery and carrots were growing. Also, they're dealing with an asbestos problem at the school and were utilizing the garden hose; so the garden was quite dry, and the snap peas plant that's closest to the area of the garden blocked off due to the asbestos issue was dying. The garden bed that is the farthest from the gate is closed off; I believe it’s the bed where the watermelon seeds were planted. Overall, the garden is doing pretty well.
